WHITE HAT What are some significant key facts that you learnt about as a result of your research?
I learnt that the overpopution of earth hadn't reached 1 billion until 1830.
The second billion was a achieved 100 years later.
That over 6.6 billion people are on earth today.
First World nations such as the United States currently eat up far more than their share. The Sierra Club notes that Americans represent five percent of the world's population but consume approximately 25 percent of its resources.
hina's annual production is now soaring, up to around 7 million per year as of 2006 compared with just 2 million in the year 2000. If China reaches even half of today's U.S. motor vehicle density by 2050, that would mean roughly 560 million Chinese vehicles on the road! The increase is twice the total current stock of U.S. vehicles. Even if the fleet were to get twice the miles per gallon that U.S. vehicles get today, its oil use (and carbon emissions) would roughly equal that of the entire U.S. transport sector today."
BLACK HAT What are the problems/ consequence for our world if nothing is done about your chosen issue?
First of all it can cause major financial problems and can cause people to be kicked out of their homes.
It can cause starvation because there won't be enough food to go around and lots of buisness's to fail so people eventually won't be able to pay their mortgages etc.
If a country overpopulates they'll have a law for example the 1 that China has now...The 1 child policy, the one child policy would help but it would;nt be a privilage, it is a bad thing to have for example if you don't choose to follow the law and have more than 1 child they'll have to kill the child(children) or give it to someone else.
How is the sustainability of our planet being affected by this issue
YELLOW HAT
What is currently being done to address your issue?
The government and people in
New Zealand are not so serious about overpopulation.
I think they should do something now before its to late and when New Zealand become overpopulated. It is better to do something now then doing it later.
RED HAT What are your group's feelings about this issue?
We think that overpopulation is one of the most serious issues entire world.
The first feeling feeling we could describe is - SCARY!!! :O
We think its scary because if we don't do anything now it would be very very scary in 20-30 yrs time.
The second feeling we could describe it is - ANNOYING!!! /:(
We think it's annoying because if you imagine all the people there would be after 30 years, it would be very hard to cope with. Also lots of countries will get flooded every year.
The last feeling we could describe it is - SAD!!! :(
Lastly, we think overpopulation would be very sad in the future because of the poverty level increasing in the future very, very, fast.
GREEN HAT
What are some things your group could do to address your issue in our community?
We think that a good way to address our issue to the community is to put flyers all over the place! Some places include: Super market windows,, fences, walls, shop windows and more.
To add to it even more, we could even make live advertisements on T.V, but its only optional.
What things should the government do to ensure that this issue is addressed?
The government could make a 1 child rule so people can only have 1 child, but they should not kill the 2nd babies.
Another thing the government can do is to put advertisement on T.V to decrease the population of New Zealand and be very serious of babies being abandoned and thrown away...
